English as a Second Language (ESL) |
ESL courses focus on knowledge and skills in English literacy and civics units such as Healthcare, Diversity, Banking, and Education. Classes offer growth in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and technology in a sequence of levels. Levels include Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. ESL classes are offered in-person and online. We are pleased to announce that we will have an evening ESL class in-person at Marina Vista. |

It’s never too late to earn your high school diploma! Individualized instruction offered in a friendly, supportive environment to help adults realize their lifelong objectives. Personalized instruction may include direct instruction, blended learning, credit recovery, and distance learning.

General Equivalency Diploma (GED)/ HiSet Test Prep |
Fast track to GED or HiSet testing! Review the four current subject areas (Language Arts, Science, Social Science, and Math) in a supportive environment with knowledgeable instructors. This is an alternative high school diploma equivalent for native Spanish speakers and for native English speakers. |

Microsoft Word This class meets in person. Class size is limited to 20 students. Register early! $50 fee This is an 8-week introduction to Microsoft Word. We will learn how to enter and format text and images, use spell check, change line spacing, and copy and paste. We will also download files from the internet,and save and print file Prerequisites: Basic Computer Skills
* In order to earn a Northstar Digital Literacy Certification, student must pass the assessment with a score of 85% or higher. The student must present a valid photo ID on Northstar test days.

Beginning Computer:
Internet Basics

Internet Basics This class meets in person. Class size is limited to 20 students. Register early! $50 fee This is an 8 week course for beginners to learn how to use web browsers and search engines to navigate the world wide web. We will discuss best practices for online safety while surfing the web and submitting information.Prerequisites: none
Northstar Digital Literacy Certification * is available for this class. * In order to earn a Northstar Digital Literacy Certification, student must pass the assessment with a score of 85% or higher. The student must present a valid photo ID on Northstar test days.

This course prepares students to pass the oral and written exam for citizenship of the United States. This class is taught in English. Prerequisite: None. |

Each month covers a different product ranging from paella to breads and holiday baking. At the completion of the course, earn a workshop certificate or high school diploma credit. Fee varies $25-$75 |

Family Safety in the Car |
This class is for adults who have been cited by police authorities for violations related to car seats or bike helmets. Monterey Adult School has provided classes on behalf of the Monterey County Health Department for the past ten years for adults cited for violations. We provide these classes once a month on Friday evenings. There is a $45.00 fee for the class, cash, or money order. Personal checks and credit cards are not accepted. |

Gardening Saturdays |
Looking to start your own home garden or learn more about gardening in general? Through our partnership with Sustainable Seaside and collaboration efforts with Resource Conservation District of Monterey County and Blue Zones Project, the Monterey Adult School is offering fall gardening workshops to the Seaside Community for a small fee of $10.
