Monterey Adult School Student Earns Statewide Recognition - Monterey Adult School student Noufou Bontoulgou is one of only 10 adult education students across California selected for recognition through the 2026 California Adult Education Students Succeed program. Noufou began at Monterey Adult School with no English proficiency and quickly advanced to the school’s highest English level, all while balancing multiple jobs, supporting his classmates and serving on the school’s inaugural Student Advisory Committee. Grow Together with Parenting Classes - Parenting comes with plenty of joys and plenty of challenges! Monterey Adult School offers parenting classes designed to give parents and caregivers practical tools, support and opportunities to learn and grow alongside their children. From Play & Learn classes for families with young children to courses focused on positive discipline, emotional resilience, family communication, healthy routines and supporting student success, there is something for families at every stage. Classes are offered in English and Spanish, with both daytime and evening options available.
Intro to Drone Boot Camp | Fall Break (16 years and older) - Interested in learning how drones work or exploring a new career skill? MPUSD will host an Intro to Drones Boot Camp during Fall Break, October 5 - 9 at Seaside High School, for participants ages 16 and older. The week-long course will cover drone fundamentals, basic flight operations, FAA airspace rules, and real-world applications in fields such as agriculture, public safety, construction and media. The cost is $200 for the week, with scholarships available. Registration opens September 21, and scholarship applications are being accepted now. Board of Education Meeting- The Board of Education meets on Tuesday, September 22, at the District Services Center, located at 540 Canyon Del Rey in Del Rey Oaks. The agenda may be found here. You can attend in person, via Zoom (where public comment can also be made virtually) or watch live on AMP-TV.
You can learn what actions the Board takes in Board Highlights or watch Spotlight on Board Highlights next week. The October meetings will be on October 13 at a special location of Monterey High School or on October 27 back at the District Services Center.

From MPUSD Residents to Teachers - Could this be you? Applications are now open for the 2027 - 2028 MPUSD Teacher Residency through Alder Graduate School of Education. Earn your master’s degree and teaching credential in one year while gaining hands-on experience alongside an MPUSD mentor teacher. The priority application deadline is October 9, 2026. Learn more and apply at aldergse.edu/apply. Participants may also receive:

UPDATED: Free Food for MPUSD Families - NOTE: The Ord Terrace Elementary School time has changed to 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. We are excited to share chef-prepared, take-home meals for MPUSD families. Visit one of four school sites on various days, including Central Coast High School, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School, Ord Terrace Elementary, and Seaside High School.
